Deckhand

An SSH terminal for iPhone and iPad that tells you which of your coding agents is waiting on you.

Deckhand connects to machines you already own, over ordinary SSH. On a host running herdr, it also reads the state of every agent in your session and shows it as a row of chips above the terminal — so you can see at a glance which agent is working, which has finished, and which is blocked on a question only you can answer. Tap one to jump straight to it.

What it does

• A real terminal, with the keys a TUI needs and a row you can rearrange
• Agent status at a glance: idle, working, blocked, done
• A notification when an agent becomes blocked, while the app is open and for a short while after you leave it
• Face ID on the SSH key it generates for you
• Your host list syncs between your own devices through your own iCloud account

What you need

• A machine you can reach over SSH. Deckhand has no servers and no accounts.
• For the agent sidebar, that machine also needs herdr running. Without it, Deckhand is still a terminal.
